Quran against depression

The Quran suggests a three-step approach to deal with depression:

1. Re-evaluating pain

2. Dealing with pain through patience

3. Recovery through active solutions

Sometimes, if you want to solve a problem, you have to understand that it can also be a blessing. Therapy has a similar method, but its effectiveness depends a lot on the therapist.

We cannot control the things that hurt us. There is always a reason that can refer to our past: childhood or shameful moments in our lives.

On the other hand, the Quran guarantees us treatment by Allah's speech. Allah said: "We send down from the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe..." (17: 82). To make it clear to the reader, He explains the wisdom of trials and calls for patience and perseverance.

The Quran's attitude towards depression can also be traced through stories from the lives of the Prophets and Messengers (peace upon him). One example was given to us by Prophet Yusuf (peace upon him) when his brothers tried to rescue Binyamin at his father's request.

Another example is when Abu Salama (may Allah be pleased with him), the husband of Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) died, she could not imagine a better man to replace him, but she ended up marrying the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

To make the method the Quran suggests more useful and understandable, set yourself objectives:

1. Spend at least an hour reading the Quran every day

2. Listen to it and read it

3. Then move on to tafsir and learning

Basically, the main idea of Islamic texts is to be patient and accept difficulties and then move on, and if there is an opportunity, grow and develop through those difficulties.

And remember what every Muslim needs to work towards is paradise. Devote yourself to worship, repent, and then by the will and mercy of Allah, you will receive eternal life. No sorrow. No anxiety. No pain. And no depression.

May Allah make it easy for all Muslims to go to Paradise! Ameen!
